Minnesota: Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies Grant
Application Due: September 1, 2015
(2015–2016 School Year)
The Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Educational Agencies Grant strives to ensure that all children meet state academic standards. Financial assistance is given to those LEAs and schools with a high percentage of children living in poverty. Funding is allocated through four statutory formulae based primarily on census poverty estimates and the cost of education in each state.

North Dakota: English Language Acquisition State Grants
Application Due: August 29, 2015
(2015–2016 School Year)
The English Language Acquisition State Grants are designed to help limited English proficient (LEP) children increase their knowledge of the English language and to ensure that these students meet state academic content and student academic achievement standards. Funds are distributed by formula that is based upon the number of immigrants and LEP students in each state.

Maryland: STEM Grant
Total Funds: $1 Million
Application Due: October 5, 2015
Grant Description: State awarded grant program to improve STEM teaching and learning in Maryland schools.
MSDE STATE PRIORITIES INCLUDE:
- Equip educators with skills and tools for learning that create and/or enhance their capacity to offer high quality STEM instruction for all students
- Provide access to high quality STEM resources that support teaching and learning of content and STEM proficiencies to prepare students for post-secondary study and careers
- Promote equity in STEM education by providing access to effective evidence-based strategies
- Provide students with the opportunity to participate in STEM with hands-on, learning experiences during in-school instruction and out-of-school time learning

Massachusetts: Universal Pre-Kindergarten Grant
Application Due: June 30, 2016
Grant Description:
The Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) grant supports early education and care programs in building capacity to provide high-quality preschool environments that promote young children's school readiness and positive outcomes.
Grant Purpose:
The UPK grant funds will support Pre-Kindergarten classroom enhancements such as purchasing new curriculum and materials, hiring additional staff to reduce class size, using formative assessment to individualize instruction, and providing comprehensive services to meet a range of children's needs including transition to Kindergarten. The UPK grant funds will also support better compensation for educators and increased professional development opportunities.

Massachusetts: Improving Teacher Quality State Grant Program
Application Due: October 30, 2015
This grant program supports the state's overarching goal, to prepare all students for success after high school. Grant funds will contribute to this goal by supporting the following state priorities:
- Strengthen curriculum and instruction
- Improve educator effectiveness
- Use data effectively to support student achievement
Grant Purpose:
Allowable statewide activities include but are not limited to:
- Recruiting and retaining highly qualified teachers and principals
- Increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in classrooms
- Reforming teacher and principal certification programs
Activities must be based on needs assessment must be aligned with state academic standards, student academic achievement standards, and state assessments (formula grants)
